Turmeric
Turmeric has been used in India for thousands of years as both a spice and medicinal herb. It is the spice that gives curry its yellow colour and as well as being a cooking condiment, it has long been believed by Indians and peoples in the Middle East and Southeast Asia that Turmeric also contains medicinal properties - and modern day scientific research is starting to prove that there is something in those claims.
Turmeric contains compounds called Curcuminoids, the most vital being Curcumin. Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric as it has potent anti-inflammatory effects and is a powerful antioxidant.
The body does not readily absorb curcumin. Therefore, you should always take turmeric with healthy fats such as coconut oil, olive oil flax seed oil etc, or black pepper which will enhance the absorption rate.
